How to Use the Center
The Math & Writing Center primarily works by appointment, but we also have walk-in hours for both math and writing.
Walk-in Hours: During these hours, you may drop by without an appointment. When you enter the center, you will be asked to write your name at the bottom of the list on the whiteboard. You may have to wait a few minutes for a tutor depending on how many other people need help. This is primarily designed for students with quick questions, so be aware that you will be limited to half an hour's worth of help. During this time you may also sit in the center and work on your homework, adding your name to the list when you get stuck.
**Walk-in Policies** Papers brought to drop-in hours may not be more than 2 pages long. Sessions will not exceed half an hour.
Appointments: You can make an appointment by either coming to visit us or calling 2989. Appointments last 50 minutes, and you may make 2 back-to-back appoinments if need be. We can generally get through about 5 pages of writing an hour. You may have up to 3 appointments a week for writing and 3 for math. If you know that you will need help all semester long, you may make consistent weekly appointments with the same tutor. In general, if you need a lot of help, make an appointment. If you just have a quick question, try walk-in tutoring!
The Indiana State University Math & Writing Center strives to help students become strong, independent learners through a variety of programs and services. We are here to help students of all backgrounds at any stage of the learning process on any math or writing project.
